Optometric Vision Therapy
Optometric vision therapy is a series of activities programmed by a trained optometrist to remediate visual problems and improve visual skills. These essential skills include eye tracking, teaming, focusing, eye-hand coordination, depth perception, visualization, and visual perception. Efficient visual skills enable a person to learn more easily and are especially important in reading.
The outcome of a vision therapy program is measurable. The specialized vision testing performed at the initial functional vision evaluation is analyzed and graphed. At the follow-up progress-check appointments with the doctor, which are done after every block of 10 vision therapy sessions, the tests are reassessed and the improvement in each area is presented on the graph.
